Why I Am Against Abortion, And Stand With The Innocent…

I really have been led to write what I feel about abortion and how so many people are being lied to in this country.  I grew up as Catholic and went to Catholic school where we were always taught that abortion was murder.  I still believe that to this day.  When I was in high school I found Jesus as my Lord and Savior and I was able to go to public school for high school.  This was in the 1970’s and girls were not having sex much in high school and if there were they certainly were not talking about it.  I can remember one girl in ninth grade that was sent away to ‘visit family’ for a few months and came back looking better than ever. I would find out later that she had a baby and gave it up for adoption.  Everything was very innocent when I was in school and there was structure on what was and what was Not the right thing to do and everyone knew it whether they were a Christian or not.

In 1972 the year that I graduated from high school the world really started to change. There was the “Sexual Revolution” where anything goes.  It was during this time that our generation was reflected in the music, pop culture, through hair styles, and the acknowledgement of the sexual revolution.  We were all told not to be so “uptight.” It was Satan’s way of deceiving a whole generation.  At that time, all of the young women were very excited for the Women’s rights bill E.R.A. (Equal Rights Movement). Equal pay for equal work, equal rights with men, you couldn’t make a woman quit her job if she were pregnant, it sounded so good and really fair.  They were even giving out ribbons for us to wear in high schools to support this.   At first everyone was all for this. Then when abortion rights came into the picture no Christian or Catholic could stand with this bill. The life of the babe in the womb became more important than having all of the same rights that men did.  Who was going to speak for these precious little ones who had no voice at all?

One of the first things I noticed was that they changed the name of the baby in the womb to a fetus. I can remember thing what is a fetus?  So, I looked it up in the dictionary.  Here is the definition:  an unborn offspring of a mammal, in particular an unborn human baby more than eight weeks after conception.  synonyms:  embryo, unborn baby/child.  The dictionary is very clear it is an unborn child.

If it isn’t a baby then you aren’t pregnant.  My mother with her many pregnancies never ever came home and told us that she had a fetus living within her.  She always said: “I am pregnant and you are going to have a new brother or sister.”

I had to take my ribbon off and throw it in the trash because I could never be a part of a movement that would think it is just fine to take the life of an innocent baby.  I come from a large family and I knew from a very young age where babies come from.  They are human beings and they deserve the same protection as any other human being that walks in this world.  As a Christian woman I had to stand with what was right instead of what was cool.

So, what does the Bible say about the unborn?  The Bible answers this question in the book of Exodus and it is very clear:

“If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life.”  Exodus 21:22-23

The Bible equates the life inside the womb as being of equal value of one outside the womb and calls the baby in their mother’s womb, a child.  Notice that in that verse that is the baby is killed God calls for a life for a life. According to the word of God, the God who created life, abortion is not a woman’s “reproductive right,” abortion violates the right to life of an unborn child!

So, what happens if you had an abortion?  Is there forgiveness for you?  Yes, there is.  Many women can find healing from their abortions.  The majority of women who have had an abortion regret it very much later especially if they are no longer able to have a baby.  While you cannot undue an abortion, God will forgive you, comfort you and love you through it.  He will help you to heal and have an intimate and very strong walk with Him. He can bring you through the terrible sorrow of an abortion and restore you to life and the joy of the Lord!  He loves you so much!!!

If you don’t have Jesus as your Savior and would like to pray and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior I would love to pray with you.  Please click the Got Jesus link and pray with me.  It will change your life forever I promise.  God bless you!!!  Maranatha!!!

Thank you so much. it is something that is dear to my heart and I feel that it is very important to stand up for the innocent little ones who cannot fight for themselves. But I also believe that there is forgiveness for women who have gone through an abortion. Jesus loves them as well. God bless you!
